NWEH and MIDAS at Bio 2014

NWEH team along with colleagues from MIDAS attended BIO 2014, one of the world's largest bio-tech conferences, between 23-26 June 2014.

Our stand on the UKTI pavilion promoted not only the work and expertise of NWEH, but also acted as a launch pad for introducing delegates to the Greater Manchester (GM) healtheco-system and the potential for investment in the GM area. The stand attracted visitors from US, UK, Far East including South Korea and Singapore and Indian sub-continent. One of our most notable visitors was Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts. One of Gov Patrick's five key projects focuses on healthcare costs and IT so he was interested to hear how GM has lead the way with integrated care records and the adoption of IT to enable research and deliver new models of care.

As well as a presentation on the Salford Lung Study, Prof Gibson took part in a breakfast debate on patient registries with One Nucleus. This sparked a lively and informed debate which continued onto the exhibition floor and generated a number of visitors to the stand.
