The winners of the Greater Manchester Health and Care Research Awards 2022 were revealed during an evening of celebration.
The local research community gathered for the ceremony hosted by NIHR Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester at The Etihad Stadium on Thursday 29 September 2022.
On this momentous occasion we are proud to share that our Chief Medical Officer, Martin Gibson, was recognised and presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented by Roger Spencer, Chief Executive of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Chairman of the NIHR CRN Greater Manchester Partnership Board, who described Martin as pioneering.
Over the span of his career, Martin has been instrumental in increasing research delivery opportunities for people across Greater Manchester with over 850,000 people been able to take part in CRN portfolio research in Greater Manchester during this time. He also played a leading role in the success of the Salford Lung Study, which is known throughout the world for its innovative trial design and use of real time data. His dedication, enthusiasm and leadership has been critical to our continued growth, and he has played a major role in attracting new sponsors and life sciences companies to deliver their studies using pragmatic approaches and transformative digital solutions.
Join us in congratulating Martin as we thank him for his endless contribution to the health and life sciences industry and his commitment and service to us all.
