NWEH are looking for a Database Administrator with the ability to work independently without direct supervision, to be an adaptable and flexible team player. Out-of-hours emergency/urgent work may sometimes be required; you must be good at problem solving, and have ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines.

As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the systems to monitor patient safety and reporting serious adverse events to the sponsor. You will be expected to investigate anomalies in data flows designed to establish efficacy of the drug in the real world, and carry out statistical analysis of patient data to answer wider research questions.

Required skills:

  • Designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimising databases in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Importing/exporting data via Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services and other mechanisms
  • Designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimising ETL processes using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services

Statistician 

Salary: £31-39k

NWEH are offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced individual to be involved in statistical analysis of data collected for innovative ‘real world’ trials investigating novel treatments.

As a Statistician you will be responsible for providing statistical expertise in pursuit of trials’ research objectives, particularly in research using extracts of NHS healthcare records,. You will be expected to liaise with other members of the NWEH team and the wider clients’ teams as necessary to ensure the sponsor and set procedures are followed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Expert scientific analyses to support NWEH research outputs
  • Methodological and applied statistical excellence
  • Provision of statistical analysis
  • Provide expert statistical data analyses using a range of datasets, focusing mainly on innovative research using NHS care record data
  • Contribute to the development of methodology for extracting knowledge from large repositories of healthcare data.
  • Contribute to manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication by preparing data analysis required by the sponsor.

Business Development Manager

NWEH are looking for a Business Development Manager, who will be flexible and responsive to business need, happy to react to a dynamic business environment and manage the resulting uncertainty. The role is office based with a requirement for a regular UK and some international travel, and occasional overnight stays.  

As Business Development Manager, you will be expected to work alongside the Head of Business Development to support the team to achieve the business objectives and carry out business engagement activities with identified market sectors according to the business plan and strategy.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a high level of practical and theoretical knowledge clinical trials, information technology, data sharing, business strategy and information governance developed from degree level study or equivalent experience (minimum of three years)

Clinical Data Engineer

NWEH are looking for a Clinical Data Engineer with the ability to work independently without direct supervision, and be an adaptable and flexible team player. Out-of-hours emergency/urgent work may sometimes be required; you must be good at problem solving, have an eye for detail, and can plan, organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines.

As a Clinical Data Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing the systems that update the Data Dictionary, automating these processes and expanding the Data Dictionary to include new coding editions or other coding requirements. You will investigate coding issues in NWEH applications and develop processes that report issues proactively. You will be a good communicator and will work closely with the database, software development and statistician teams. You will take the lead in evaluating data standards, coding editions and implementation guides, both national and international. You will be familiar with the following coding systems:

  • Read Codes and Clinical Terms Version
  • SNOMED CT
  • ICD10 and OPCS4
  • MedDRA
  • LOINC
